The Department of Chemical Sciences and Natural Resources of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences of the University of La Frontera has the mission of providing quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the areas of Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Natural Resources Sciences, contributing to the formation of human capital; as well as generating and disseminating scientific and technological knowledge, promoting the sustainability of Natural Resources. It assumes the commitment to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Region and the country, focusing its academic activities on a comprehensive quality education of students and promoting the link with the environment at the regional, national and international level, ascribing to the declared values by the University.

The Department of Chemical Sciences and Natural Resources has the vision of being a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary reference in Chemical and Biochemical Sciences, and in the sustainable development of Natural Resources under the scenario of climate change, with regional, national and international recognition.
